STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) — Georgia Southern backup quarterback Dexter Williams has entered the transfer portal, according to the athletic department.

On Wednesday, WSAV received the confirmation email from the Georgia Southern University Athletics that Williams entered the portal.

The senior quarterback entered the season in a three-way battle for the starting quarterback position after transferring from Indiana University. JC French was named the starter back on Aug. 20 and has started every game.

Williams competed in four games this season for the Eagles.

Most notably, he led a 21-point comeback against Marshall on Oct. 12 with 6:31 left in the contest.

His stats at Georgia Southern are 19 for 30 for 248 yards three touchdowns through the air. Then on the ground, 13 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown.

His name has been removed from the athletics’ website.

Georgia Southern is off this week. They will return to the field Nov. 16 on the road against Troy.
