Tiffany Haddish has recounted hitting a breaking point in her 20s during a ballet class. The Girls Trip actress still vividly remembers auditioning for a movie role nearly two decades ago, which required dance lessons that ended disastrously.
โI auditioned for a ballet-style dance film and I did not get hired,โ Haddish told Us Weekly in an interview published on October 30. โBut I also got kicked out of ballet class.โ
But why did Haddish, then 27, have to sashay away?
โFor cussing,โ she continued. โThat sโt hurts!โ
After being dismissed from the class, Haddish made it a point to live up to her signature wit by returning to watch the class.
โ[Iโd] go to ballet,โ she explained. โ[Iโd] go to the recital just to smite the teacher.โ
Despite the past pain, the 44-year-old shared that she still finds joy in the art of dance.
โI do it at home alone all the time,โ she said. โIโm not good at it. I take barre classes. Thatโs my jam!โย
But beyond helpful poses, her grandmother instilled in her a love for fashion and taught her how to fend for herself.
โWe didnโt have a whole lot of money, โcause models back then werenโt making a whole lot of money,โ Tiffany explained. โShe taught me a lot about fashion and how to make clothes. I love making clothes and things like that. So, fashion is a part of who I am, and itโs how you express yourself.โย
