WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR)—On Wednesday, a bunch of Republican senators voted at the side of Democrats on a solution to undo President Donald Trump’s 25% price lists on Canadian imports.

“For decades, our country has been looted, pillaged, raped, and plundered by nations near and far,” President Trump mentioned.

A significant shake-up in U.S. industry coverage, President Trump introduced sweeping world price lists on all imports, a travel he says will offer protection to American jobs and industries.

“It’s our declaration of economic independence,” Trump mentioned.

The plan features a baseline 10% tariff on items.

The president held up a chart to turn international locations like China will face a 34% tax on its exports to the U.S., moment the Ecu Union will see a 20% tariff.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent yelps the travel honest.

“All we’re doing is homogeneous what they’re doing to us,” Bessent mentioned.

Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul concurs with Democrats on price lists.

“The community who’re for price lists are simply fallacious,” Paul mentioned.

“The tariffs that we’ve heard announced from Donald Trump just hours ago, are going to lead to what’s going to be seen as a national sales tax. It’s going to be the Trump sales tax,” Senator Ben Ray Lujan (D-N.M.) mentioned.

The worldwide markets are reacting cautiously, and companies are bracing for attainable ripple results
