Rick Steves Endorses Kamala Harris for President

Beloved travel expert and TV personality Rick Steves is supporting Kamala Harris for president.

Steves, known for his long-standing public television show โ€œRick Steves’ Europe,โ€ initially touted the โ€œstabilityโ€ a Harris presidency would bring in a September post โ€”ย saying he longs โ€œfor the day when we can return to healthy and principled partisan debates,โ€ but added this election is different.ย

โ€œAs a traveler, Iโ€™m both a proud American and a citizen of the world, and Iโ€™ve got a few thoughts for this coming election: the world needs not the chaos of Trump, but the stability of Kamala Harris. It needs American leadership within the family of nations as we effectively confront the challenges of the future,โ€ Steves said in his first video posted to X. โ€œThatโ€™s why Iโ€™m voting blue and I hope you will too.โ€

Steves, followed his initial endorsement with a new video posted a video from Berlin on Tuesday talking about fascism and Adolf Hitlerโ€™s history of arresting political opponents after taking power in Germany in the 1930s. Last year, former President Donald Trump vowed he wouldnโ€™t be a dictator if reelected โ€œother than day one,โ€ according to The Associated Press.

โ€œMany donโ€™t realize that the first people Hitler sent to his concentration camps werenโ€™t everyday Jewish citizens, but his political opponents,โ€ Steves wrote in a post on X. โ€œSo, when Trump rants about retribution, locking up his opponents, and giving them โ€˜very long sentences,โ€™ I canโ€™t help but take him seriouslyโ€ฆ because history teaches us that is what fascist dictators do during their โ€˜Day Oneโ€™ period to consolidate their power.โ€

Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, and voters can find their designated polling location as well as potential early voting polling locations through Vote.org.

Steves recently revealed his prostate cancer diagnoses and said in early October he had a successful surgery.
