Rep. Buddy Carter talks Trump Savannah visit

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Local Republicans are very excited about the Former President’s rally and the heavy focus on Georgia this election season.

Many of the former president’s messages were ones he’s brought up frequently on the campaign trail, but today in Savannah he chose to double down on the economy and some of the economic issues that many people supporting him felt were important.

As many a rallygoer today said, it’s all about the economy.

WSAV’s Christine Queally spoke with Representative Buddy Carter of Georgia’s First Congressional District outside the Civic Center with his impressions of the rally.

One thing Trump emphasized was placing tariffs on auto manufacturers in other countries. In a district where the Hyundai meta plant has brought so much change in the last few years, this message will likely resonate here.

“It’s gonna affect our area,” he said. “There’s no question about that because we are becoming a manufacturing hub. Georgia is open for business. 11 years in a row – the number one state in which to do business. People are flocking here, and we’re gonna have manufacturing. When Donald Trump becomes president of the United States, he’s going to get people back, he’s going to get jobs back, and manufacturing back to America. That’s one of his goals, and I’m just excited about it.”
