Michael Strahan pays tribute to veteran father amid backlash for his posture during the National Anthem during the “NFL on Fox”.

As a celebrity, you’re under constant surveillance; every intentional or unintentional move can cause chaos. In an era when celebrities get canceled left and right sometimes you can be as careful as possible and still end up in the spotlight. The latest celebrity facing backlash is former NFL player Michael Strahan. This weekend during the Veterans Day slate for the “NFL on Fox” Strahan left his hands by his side for the National Anthem.

According to TMZ, social media immediately called his posture “disrespectful” and called for his termination. Strahan seemingly didn’t mean any harm and was just ready to get to work for the day. For Veterans Day he took to social media to pay tribute to his father who is a Veteran without directly addressing the backlash.

“Thank you to all veterans and active service members who courageously risk their lives to protect us every day. Your selfless service is beyond measure.” Michael Strahan wrote on Instagram. “This is my hero, it is also my father, Maj. Gene W. Strahan, Sr. He served for 23 years in the army and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Just as I honor my father, I keep all of you in my thoughts each and every day as we would not have the safety and freedoms we cherish without you. Thank You.”

With the political climate as hostile as ever, it’s no surprise social media warriors are in overdrive and fueling slander from what appears to be an honest mistake. Strahan appeared alongside Howie Long, Jay Glover, Terry Bradshaw, Rob Gronkowski, and others without any visible issues with his stance while on air. What would you do if you were in Strahan’s shoes with the world creating a fuss about your posture?
