Tiffany Haddish was kicked out of ballet class for swearing

Tiffany Haddish has recounted hitting a breaking point in her 20s during a ballet class. The Girls Trip actress still vividly remembers auditioning for a movie role nearly two decades ago, which required dance lessons that ended disastrously.

“I auditioned for a ballet-style dance film and I did not get hired,” Haddish told Us Weekly in an interview published on October 30. “But I also got kicked out of ballet class.”

But why did Haddish, then 27, have to sashay away?

“For cussing,” she continued. “That s–t hurts!”

After being dismissed from the class, Haddish made it a point to live up to her signature wit by returning to watch the class.

“[I’d] go to ballet,” she explained. “[I’d] go to the recital just to smite the teacher.”

Despite the past pain, the 44-year-old shared that she still finds joy in the art of dance.

“I do it at home alone all the time,” she said. “I’m not good at it. I take barre classes. That’s my jam!”

But beyond helpful poses, her grandmother instilled in her a love for fashion and taught her how to fend for herself.

“We didn’t have a whole lot of money, ’cause models back then weren’t making a whole lot of money,” Tiffany explained. “She taught me a lot about fashion and how to make clothes. I love making clothes and things like that. So, fashion is a part of who I am, and it’s how you express yourself.”
