Both Effingham County football teams play in rescheduled games

EFFINGHAM COUNTY — Both Effingham County and South Effingham football played Monday night after recent schedule changes due to Hurricane Helene.

South Effingham hosted Evans and struggled to get going offensively, but found success in special teams as the Mustangs converted on a fake punt in the second quarter. Unfortunately, that drive would not result in points and South Effingham fell to Evans 35-0.

Effingham did not have the luxury of staying home, the Rebels travelled to Lakeside to take on the Panthers. This was a back and fourth battle all the way through. Effingham started on top 14-3 before Lakeside answered and tied it at 14-14.

The Rebels would go back up 21-14, but the Panthers’ offense ended up being too much for Effingham County to handle, the Rebels fell 58-38.
