METTER, Ga. (WSAV) โ€“ Candler County Emergency Management Agency (CCEMA) has announced they will temporarily suspend field operations during Hurricane Helene.

The announcement came from the Candler County Sheriffโ€™s Officeโ€™s official Facebook.

โ€œAs Tropical Event Helene approaches, we anticipate and prepare for significant impacts beginning later today and continuing through the night,โ€ CCEMA said in the post. โ€œPlease be advised that when wind speeds reach 40 miles per hour, we will suspend field operations for the safety of our first responders. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’ While we will make every effort to respond to extreme life and property safety incidents, deteriorating conditions may make it impossible for us to do so.โ€

The post also said that while there will be no curfew issued by the Candler County Board of Commissioners, CCEMA still encouraged safety on the roads as the storm approaches.
